Corporate tax in Andorra
How we help you find a corporate tax lawyer in Andorra
Andorra is a parliamentary co-principality with its own administration, its own courts and a legal profession reserved to advocates admitted to the Col·legi Oficial d’Advocats d’Andorra. For a company operating in Andorra la Vella, Escaldes-Engordany or anywhere else in the Principality, corporate tax questions rarely stay isolated: they touch on company law, accounting, residence and, if a dispute arises, on proceedings conducted entirely in Catalan. This page explains how the Andorran system is organised and how to choose a corporate tax lawyer in Andorra who fits your business. We are a matching service, not a law firm, and we do not give legal advice. You describe your situation, we compare it with the practice profiles of bar-admitted lawyers, and you receive a free match.
Andorra in practice
Corporate tax work inside the Andorran legal system
Andorra is a parliamentary co-principality whose 1993 Constitution created a fully separated judicial power. Because corporate tax questions often end up before an administrative or civil court, it helps to know how the profession and the courts actually work in the Principality.
Only CADA-admitted lawyers may practise
The practice of law in Andorra is reserved to advocates admitted to the Col·legi Oficial d’Advocats d’Andorra, under Law 48/2014 of 18 December as amended by Law 10/2023 of 30 January. Admission requires the prescribed law degree, the Andorran aptitude certificate obtained after passing the examinations, the practical traineeship regulated by the Government, and full capacity to practise. Advisers outside the bar cannot act as lawyers in the Principality.
One lawyer represents and pleads
Andorra has no separate procurador profession. The advocate admitted to the Andorran bar both represents and defends the client in judicial proceedings, so procedural representation is exercised by the same lawyer who argues the case. For a company caught up in a tax dispute this means a single point of contact, which makes the choice of that lawyer important from the outset.
Catalan is the only official language of judicial activity
Catalan is the sole official language of the State and of judicial activity in Andorra: proceedings, filings and judgments are drafted in Catalan. For foreign-owned companies this is a practical point, because documents intended for use before the Andorran courts and correspondence with the authorities normally have to be produced in Catalan rather than translated on an ad hoc basis.
Where public-law disputes are decided
The Llei qualificada de la Justícia of 3 September 1993 allocates judicial power to the Batlles, the Tribunal de Batlles, the Tribunal de Corts and the Tribunal Superior de Justícia, structuring it into civil, criminal and administrative jurisdictions. The Batllia d’Andorra hears first-instance matters, the Tribunal de Corts deals with serious criminal offences, and the Tribunal Superior de Justícia is the highest instance and hears appeals.
Judicial fees and who pays them
Judicial fees exist in Andorra under the Llei de taxes judicials of 22 June 2000. The law taxes proceedings in the civil and administrative jurisdictions, as well as civil-liability claims brought within criminal proceedings; criminal proceedings themselves are not subject to the fee. The claimant or applicant for the court service is the taxpayer and the fee counts as procedural costs. Article 5 exempts persons declared in poverty or insolvency who have been granted official legal assistance.
Deadlines run in business days
Procedural periods in Andorra are computed in dies hàbils — business days only. Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, August and the Christmas period are not counted. A company that receives a judicial notification therefore cannot assume that a month means a calendar month, and filings have to be planned around a court calendar that pauses in summer. Notifications are issued within a maximum of five business days from the date the resolution is made.

Common problems
What companies run into in Andorra
Corporate tax questions in a small jurisdiction tend to arrive with a few familiar complications attached.
You cannot tell who is actually qualified
Andorra reserves legal practice to members of its own bar. Advisers, accountants and foreign counsel may all describe themselves as tax specialists, but only a CADA-admitted advocate can represent your company in Andorran proceedings.
Everything runs in Catalan
Filings, notifications and judgments are in Catalan, the sole official language of the State and of judicial activity. Missing documents or a misunderstood position can slow a tax matter down and complicate relations with the authorities.
Cross-border facts, local rules
Groups with a presence in Spain, France or further afield often have questions that mix Andorran company law, residence issues and administrative procedure. You need someone who works with that combination rather than one strand of it.
Why use our matching
What you get when we match you
We do not practise law and we do not charge you for the introduction. We narrow the field so that you speak to the right lawyer first.
Bar-admitted lawyers only
Every lawyer we match is admitted to the Col·legi Oficial d’Advocats d’Andorra, the body that regulates and orders the professional activity of advocates in the Principality under Law 48/2014 as amended.
Corporate tax focus
We look for lawyers whose practice covers corporate tax, company structures and dealings with the Andorran administration, so your question reaches someone who handles this type of work routinely.
Local procedure, explained
Your lawyer works in Catalan before the Andorran courts and knows how periods are counted in business days, how judicial fees are charged and how the administrative jurisdiction operates.
Free and without obligation
Describing your situation costs nothing. We match you with a lawyer; you decide whether to instruct them, and you agree the professional fees directly with them.

Questions and answers
Corporate tax law in Andorra: what clients ask
Do I need a corporate tax lawyer in Andorra or can an accountant handle it?
Only an advocate admitted to the Col·legi Oficial d’Advocats d’Andorra may practise law in the Principality, under Law 48/2014 as amended by Law 10/2023. Accountants and tax advisers can prepare figures and filings, but legal advice on corporate tax questions and representation before the Andorran courts fall to a bar-admitted lawyer.
How does a lawyer qualify to practise in Andorra?
Admission as a practising member of the Andorran bar requires the prescribed law degree, the Andorran aptitude certificate obtained after passing the examinations, and a practical traineeship regulated by the Government, together with full capacity to practise. The Government regulation of 13 February 2019 develops the requirements for the aptitude certificate.
Is there a procurador in Andorra?
No. Andorra has no separate procurador profession. The advocate admitted to the Andorran bar both represents and defends the client, so the lawyer who pleads your case is also the one who formally represents your company in the proceedings. This keeps the relationship single-tracked.
In which language will my Andorran tax matter be handled?
Catalan is the sole official language of the State and of judicial activity. Proceedings, filings and judgments are in Catalan, which means that documents intended for the Andorran courts and authorities are normally prepared in that language from the outset.
Are there court fees for tax-related litigation in Andorra?
Yes. Judicial fees are governed by the Llei de taxes judicials of 22 June 2000 and apply to proceedings in the civil and administrative jurisdictions. The claimant or applicant is the taxpayer and the fee counts as procedural costs; persons declared in poverty or insolvency with official legal assistance are exempt under Article 5.
How long do I have to react to an Andorran court decision?
Under the Andorran Codi de procediment civil, a civil appeal against a final judgment runs 20 business days from notification, 13 business days in special procedures, and a motion for reconsideration 13 business days. Periods are counted in business days only: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, August and the Christmas period are excluded.
