1. Who is responsible for your data

European Lawyer Finder is a free introduction service for people who need a lawyer in Europe. The controller of the personal data collected through this website is:

We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. We receive enquiries from members of the public and pass them to independent law firms in our network.

2. What personal data we collect

  • If you send an enquiry through our forms: your first and last name, email address, target country, area of law, a description of your situation and any other information you choose to include in the message.
  • If you register as a partner law firm: firm name, professional information (jurisdiction, practice areas, working languages), contact name, professional email address and the data needed to manage the partnership, including the Data Processing Agreement you accept.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device information and the pages requested, recorded in the server logs to keep the site secure and available.

3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

  • To receive and process your enquiry and put you in touch with a suitable law firm — your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you submit the form.
  • To forward your enquiry to one or more network law firms so that they can contact you directly — your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
  • To manage partner law firms and the referral relationship — performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • To protect the website against spam, abuse and fraud, and to keep basic security logs — legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We do not use your data for automated decision-making and we do not build advertising profiles.

4. Who we share it with

  • Network law firms. When you submit an enquiry, we share the details you provided with one or more independent law firms whose practice covers your matter, so that they can contact you. From that point, each firm processes your data as its own controller, under its own privacy policy.
  • Service providers acting as processors: hosting (servers located in the European Union), email delivery (Brevo) and our own automation infrastructure (n8n). They act only on our instructions and are bound by contract.
  • Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.

We never sell your personal data. We do not plan transfers outside the European Economic Area; should a transfer ever be necessary, it would rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

5. How long we keep your data

  • Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement with a lawyer: 24 months from the last contact, then deleted.
  • Partner law firms: for the duration of the partnership and during the legal limitation periods afterwards.
  • Server logs: 12 months.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, rectification of, erasure of, restriction of and portability of your data, object to processing, and withdraw your consent at any time by writing to hola@europeanlawyerfinder.com. We answer within one month.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD, www.aepd.es) or with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.

7. Security

We apply technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, access control, least-privilege accounts and backups — to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration.

8. Minors

This service is intended for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect legal or operational changes. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page.
